25th of December the following children have been baptized Johannes Steheli, late Mr H(an)s Georg Steheli and Mrs. Maria Linder in wedlock begotten and born (legitimate) child with sponsors Mr. Johannes am Acker (and) Johannes Diedrich Jun: and Miss Barbara Hug; which child was born at this daylight 27th of October 1939
(1) Dec. 25. The following children were Baptized:
Johannes Stetzel, son of George & Maria-Linden Stet-
zel. Sponsors John Diedrick & Miss Barbara Hueden.
Born Octob 27, 1739.
The top of this page is marked 1 in a square and is indeed the oldest record I have on Xerox; There is a word there too, "Finished", it's definitely a different handwriting; The total of baptisms on 25. December is 3 children, all born in 1739, but on different dates; This would be the first baptism since early 1738 and it is performed by John (Hans Ulrich) Giessendanner, the nephew. He would have been 18 year and 10 months old on this Christmas day 1739. The Rev's future wife is still MISS Barbara Hug here, one of the sponsors, this is Hug, not Hueden; The family name of the father is Steheli, not Stetzel; the family name of the mother is Linder, not Linden; The father (Hans Georg) must have died between Feb and Dec 1739, because he is deceased when the child is baptized, they were married before Feb 1739
