Anno 1741 Monday the 14th of
September was baptized privately |
(14) Monday 14 Sept - was Baptized Privatly Anna Maria Margretta Diedricks - Leg child of Mr. Johannes Diedricks & His Wife. Spons- Henry Wuertzer Peter Hurger, Margret Koenig, formely Hessig - Margretta, Laehryig - formerly Bodenerig |
Comment Joop:
Peter Hurger = Peter Hug
Margretha is certainly not a Koenig, but a Rou by marriage. Her maiden name is Hess, which is interesting because we know a Margaret Hessy - Rowe. According to Salley (pg 33) the Rowe family came from Scotland and settled in Orangeburgh Township around 1740, but if Rou is more correct, it looks very much like French origin. It could also be, because the Rev. had no clue as how to write this name, it is 'as it sounded'
Laeherig = Lahrij and Bodenerig = Bodmer (with thanks to Sabine Schleichert)
It seems like all English oriented names/months/statements are in blockletters
