Travel- of a recently Carolina To his Fatherland Report On this Country's Ways, Nature and |
Joop Giesendanner: Hans Wernhard Trachssler, a native of Elgg, Zürich, Switzerland, belonged to the emigrants that crossed the ocean 1736/1737 and landed in Charleston, SC on Feb 1, 1737. He returned to Switzerland, where he, in order to please the authorities, wrote a report in favor of NOT leaving to the Americas. In the context of BoR he writes of his experiences, and thus of the group he traveled with, which was partly those settling in Orangeburg in 1737.
